"Ourika Valley: A Glimpse of the High Atlas Ourika Valley is a stunning natural escape located about 60 km south of Marrakech, nestled in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Known for its lush greenery, red-rock landscapes, and the refreshing Ourika River that snakes through the valley, it offers a stark contrast to the bustling city life of Marrakech. The region is home to traditional Berber villages where life has remained unchanged for centuries, making it a perfect blend of natural beauty and authentic Moroccan culture."
09:00 AM – Departure from Marrakech
Start your journey early to enjoy the scenic drive. As you leave the city, you will see the landscape transition from urban plains to olive groves and almond orchards with the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the background.
10:30 AM – Visit a Traditional Berber House
Stop at a local Berber village to visit a traditional home. Experience the famous Moroccan hospitality with a glass of fresh mint tea. This is a great opportunity to learn about the lifestyle, architecture, and history of the indigenous people of the mountains.
11:30 AM – Stop at a Women’s Argan Oil Cooperative
Visit a local cooperative where Berber women produce Argan oil, known as "Moroccan Gold," using traditional techniques. You can see the extraction process and purchase authentic cosmetic or culinary products.
12:30 PM – Arrival at Setti Fatma & Hike to the Waterfalls
The road ends at the charming village of Setti Fatma. From here, hire a local guide for a hike to the seven waterfalls. The first waterfall is easily accessible, while the others require a bit more climbing. The cool mist and the view of the valley from the top are spectacular.
02:30 PM – Riverside Lunch
After your hike, enjoy a traditional lunch at one of the many restaurants located right on the banks of the Ourika River. You can sit on colorful chairs placed in the shallow water while enjoying a delicious lamb or vegetable Tagine cooked over a wood fire.
04:30 PM – Leisurely Walk & Souvenirs
Take a slow walk through the village markets. You’ll find unique handmade pottery, Berber carpets, and local herbs and spices to take home as souvenirs.
05:30 PM – Return to Marrakech
Head back to Marrakech as the sun begins to set over the mountains, arriving around 7:00 PM.
