Embark on an unforgettable cultural adventure in the heart of Amizmiz, where you’ll dive deep into the traditions, flavors, and hospitality of the Atlas Mountains. This immersive experience takes you on a journey from the vibrant local market to a hands-on cooking class, all while embracing the authentic Moroccan lifestyle.
Your day begins in Amizmiz, where you'll visit the bustling market to purchase fresh vegetables, meat (or chicken), spices, and other ingredients for the meal you'll prepare later. If you’re a vegetarian, there will be plenty of plant-based options available. You’ll also have the chance to shop for a traditional djellaba, a classic local garment, to fully immerse yourself in Moroccan culture.
Once you’ve gathered everything you need, you’ll take a scenic 40-minute walk to my home, soaking in the beautiful surroundings as you go. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by my wife, Kawtar, who will invite you to enjoy a cup of Moroccan tea paired with traditional cakes. This is the perfect moment to relax and get to know the local culture better.
Next, you’ll dive into a hands-on cooking class with Kawtar, where you can choose from a variety of classic Moroccan dishes to prepare. Whether it’s a rich tagine, a fresh salad, or a flavorful couscous, you’ll learn the secrets of Moroccan cooking techniques and the importance of spices in creating authentic flavors.
After enjoying your freshly prepared lunch, we’ll indulge in some seasonal fruits and give you the chance to experience a Henna tattoo session, a traditional art form practiced by Moroccan women. It’s a beautiful and fun way to add a personal touch to your experience.
Finally, after a day of cooking, cultural exploration, and relaxation, we’ll take a walk back to Amizmiz, where we’ll say our goodbyes, leaving you with lasting memories of Moroccan cuisine, hospitality, and the unique charm of the Atlas Mountains.
